New international project in secure maritime digitalisation

Blue Science Park has been granted a new Baltic Sea project to build up the skills of the Baltic Sea in the area of safe maritime digitalisation. The project is being implemented together with the science parks in Gdynia, Poland and Klaipeda, Lithuania, as well as the Maritime Development Center in Denmark.

The project is called SECMAR and is part of the Southern Baltic Sea program, which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund together with Region Blekinge.

– We are very pleased to be able to present our first international project as we believe strongly in increased cooperation across the Baltic Sea. We are in a build-up phase of Blue Science Park and have not really planned international investments until next year. We are currently recruiting two people who will work in the project,” says Magnus Forsbrand, CEO of Blue Science Park.

– For Blue Science Park, the project is a venture to build up our contact networks with other regions around the Baltic Sea that have a strong maritime sector, in Poland, Lithuania and Denmark. At the same time, we are taking digitalisation into a new area, Marine Technology, says Magnus Olsson, Business Developer Maritime Technology at Blue Science Park.

– Digitization affects all industries, and it is always important to think about security from the outset. With the new project, we have the opportunity to involve different actors in the maritime sector and jointly develop a secure collaboration platform to exchange data and information across national borders, ” says Mårten Holmberg, Business Developer Digital Cyber Security at Blue Science Park.
